Under the patronage of Ms Krystyna Szumilas, Polish Minister of National Education, the “My Europe” Initiative organized a workshop in Warsaw on 7 and 8 October 2013.

During the first day (“Europe Day”), hosted by the Polish Bank Association, students from the Tadeusz Czacki High School, Kozminski University and various technical schools had the opportunity to listen to European talks and to share their opinions with prominent guests from business, academia and politics. Among the speakers wereDr. Mieczysław Groszek (Vice President of Polish Bank Association), Prof. Grzegorz Mazurek (Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Kozminski University), Sergiusz Najar (Member of the Board, Education Foundation Perspektywy) and Jacek Kusmierczyk (Chancellor, Polskie Bractwo Kawalerow Gutenberga). The students also tackled some of Europe’s future problems in a role-play.

On the second day (“Journalism Day”), the students were invited to visit the premises of our media partners Gazeta Wyborcza and Polityka and to gain insight into news and essay writing. The teenagers were introduced to the fascinating world of journalism by Grzegorz Piechota (Head of editorial development, Gazeta Wyborcza), Maciek Piwowarczuk (Video producer, Documentary director, Wyborcza.pl), Katarzyna Pawlowska-Salinska (Features editor, Gazeta Wyborcza), Piotr Zmelonek (Publishing Director, Polityka) and Adam Szostkiewicz (Commentator, Polityka).
